Houndstooth Frenzy.

Hi guys!!! As promised on my instagram, _hollyjae, I am bringing you my houndstooth OOTD! Is it just me or is NC weather getting a bit out of control?? I am all for the winter and its AMAZING fashion, but little miss ma'am here is tired of these below freezing temps! Anywhooo, I knew that it was necessary for me to keep warm while looking put together. I am a fan of not only black and white, but also houndstooth print. It looks very chic to me and can bring a subtle flare to any outfit. Plus, being that it is a monochrome pallet, you can pair it with any color you choose, which is what I did!

Here Holly goes agaiiinnn... making her own suit set! LOL. I've spoke about this before I know, but lets touch on it once more. Here I was with this to die for houndstooth skirt that was a statement on its own, but to my enjoyment there was an article of clothing in my closet that had to step out for the day! This faux leather sleeve motorcycle jacket took this look to an entirely new level!!! Although the prints are not a perfect match, the difference in prints creates character and edge to an other wise safe look.

Underneath my DIY suit set, lol, I paired a pastel teal cropped sweatshirt. The softness of this color really complimented the black and white.  My black, lace up booties added to the feminine flare of the playful outfit. I played more with the blue family by accessorizing with a turquoise and gold statement necklace. Simple pearls were the perfect touch to this look.

Outfit Details:

  • Cropped Sweat Shirt: Target
  • Houndstooth Skater Skirt: Target
  • Lace up Booties: Forever 21
  • Motorcycle Jacket: JCPenny
  • Necklace: H&M
  • Bag: Steve Madden

I really enjoyed this look today and was able to stay quite warm in it. I am, and will remain a sucker for a black and white attention grabbing piece and I believe that everyone should have one in their wardrobe. I would like to thank you guys, as always, for supporting me and I hope that I am inspiration for someone to be who they are and express themselves through their fashion. It is not about what you wear, but how you wear it!

XOXO,
Holly

Work Day Chronicles

Hey there darlings!!!! I know, I know I've been gone for minute, so I have prepared myself for the fussing that I deserve. :(. I do apologize guys! I just started a new job and it took some getting use to, but I am back in the swing of things! Just to prove how back I am, I woke up earlier today juuuussst to take pictures for this post before work. Proud of me??? I was a bit hesitant on whether or not to do work day looks, because yes your girl does have 9 to 5! Then I realized that many of my followers do too! Hopefully you guys can find inspiration in these WORK DAY CHRONICALS posts.

Today was casual Friday at my job and we were allowed to wear jeans. But hey, who says jeans can't be dressed up? I've always been a firm believer in dressing to impress for work, even on casual days! Besides, who can pass up the opportunity to pair a good pair of jeans with a blazer? Not this chic!

I threw together this outfit in about 10 minutes, and I think it came out nicely if I may say so myself! I recently purchased this light beige Calvin Klein blazer and knew instantly that jeans would be worn with it. I feel as though a nice beige blazer with a white top exudes class and sophistication, even with denim. For warmth I added my favorite infinity scarf.

Leopard is probably my biggest fashion obsession and will remain such until the end of time!!! However, it is all about picking the right leopard print. I know I am not the only one who has fallen victim to that leopard print that is too light; too big of print; or too cartoony.  Well, this leopard print does not fit into those catastrophic categories!  Oh yea, and to my surprise the shoes and bag were perfect matches!

I hope each and everyone of you have an amazing and fun-filled weekend! Live young, Laugh often, and Love hard!

Rainy Day Black & Blues

Hi there ladies and gents! I'm have returned to you on this rainy North Carolina day with a precipitation appropriate look. I hope everyone's New Year is going amazingly and that you are holding fast to those resolutions you made for 2014. My New Year has been going good so far; fingers crossed that it continues. Okay...enough rambling Holly, on with the Fit!

How many of you guys have heard the infamous myth that never, under any circumstances should black and blue be worn together?? Hands up, I know we've all heard this bologna! Welp, as always I am here to step on toes and break rules! I decided to pair my navy Phillip Lim A-line skater skirt with my simple graphic sweatshirt. For those of you who follow fashion and the runway, I am sure you saw this to colors pop on the 2012 fashion runways! Gucci,  Mui Mui, and Carolina Herrera all incorporated navy and black on the catwalk!

As I've said a number of times, it is all about how you style. I decided to let the skirt serve as the focal point. By keeping all other elements of this look black, eyes are automatically drawn to the skirt. I paired my look with some black opaque tights and my knee high riding boots. To compliment the gold hardware on my bag, I opted for a gold chain necklace for accessories.

I hope each of you enjoy your weekend, as rainy as it maybe, and continue to laugh in the face of fashion rules. Do what you want; be who you are; and express yourself in all that you do!

XOXO,
Holly

Highlighted NewsPaper...

Well helloooo ladies and gents!! Its been a while, hasn't it? Well, if feels like it has been years to me! As I told you guys on my previous post, I attended Jay z's concert this Sunday! I'm glad this is just a blog and not a video because my voice is out of commission at this present moment! I had an amazing night at the concert and was happy that my outfit of choice allowed me to dance the night away!

I decided to keep it simple with a monochromatic look and just a pop of color. When I think of Jay, my mind automatically goes to the clean black and white look, so that was my inspiration for this look. When attending a concert I believe that as far as priorities go, how comfortable an outfit will be should be high up. I knew that I would be standing the whole night so I chose to pair this clean look with some wedged, fringed booties.

Outfit Details

Bomber Jacket: TJ Maxx
Graphic Sweatshirt: Target
Leather Trimmed White Skinnies: Target
Leather & Suede Fringed Booties: Torrid
Neon Clutch: TJ Maxx

I am a huge fan of the short set trend that graced the runways in the spring and summer, but it was a bit to cold to have all my goodies out! I decided to make my own suit set combo with a white bomber jacket and leather trimmed skinny jeans! Although the pair was not meant to be worn together, I believe that the pieces complimented each other well, don't you?

I know I've spoken to you guys about breaking fashion rules before, and this outfit is the epitome of that! The whole, "no white after Labor Day", is for the birds! It is all about HOW YOU WEAR IT!
The black graphic sweater and black booties made this outfit more season appropriate.

I just wanted to take the time out and thank each and everyone of you who have taken time out of your busy schedules to stop by and see ya girl! I truly appreciate you all!

XOXO,
Holly

Highway to Hollywood...

Hello Gals and Guys! I'm back again on this New Year to show you another price right, fashion look! Let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year!! I wish prosperity and success to you all! Take 2014 by the reigns and ride it all the way to the top! This is the year to continue to grow an improve from the wonderful person you were last year! Nothing can hinder you from being the person you want to be this year, but you. Have a brighter and more optimistic outlook this year; I can only give you all this advice because it is what I've told myself. I've seen this quote about 1,000 times on instagram today, but it is actually a good one, "Today is the first page of a 365 page book; make it a good one!" My plans for this year are simple...keep improving the person that I am.

Today was spent  shopping and running errands, preparing for the Magna Carta concert I will be attending Sunday. I am eager to attend the show so I am being a bit excessive in planning my outfit! Have any of you been to the concert? Oh yea, and I will be sure to post my outfit for you guys! For today's look I chose to pair my classic Timbs with a pair of denim Levis and a slightly cropped sweater. It was a bit chilly today and the thick sweater allowed me to not only be warm, but also FASHIONABLE! The faux fur scarf brought some "chicness", is that a word? LOL, to this otherwise tomboyish look.
